Datebk3, Datebk4 and Datebk5 don't have a lot of support for sorting todo items. Datebk6 has very advanced todo sorting - refer to "Preference Panel - ToDo Sorting" in DatebkSixManualPage:44 for details. The rest of this page refers to only earlier versions of Datebk.
In Datebk3 and Datebk4, the sort order of todos is taken from the sort order specified in the Palm OS built-in Todo application (go to the Todo application, tap on the Show button, and select from the "Sort by" drop-down menu).
You have some additional control over the sorting of todos (e.g., where completed todos are displayed in the list) by choosing which view to use: Daily View with todos integrated, Daily View split-screen, and List View; experiment with the three views to see which you like best. You can also filter out completed or undated todos using the ToDos Preference tab for the Daily View and split-screen, and you can do more advanced filtering in the List View. For more details about todo sorting, see DatebkFiveManualPage:39.
In the built-in Todo application, if you change the due date to "today" the item is moved down to the bottom of today's items. This allows you to reschedule the todo list order at the beginning of the day. This is not possible in Datebk4 and and later versions - todos that match on all other attributes are now sorted in the database by description.
You can sort todos by starting the description with a space (moves it to the top) or a tilde ~ (moves it to the bottom), or you can sub-sort by starting each todo with a digit such as:
In Datebk4 only: to have your todos sorted at all times, set the SyncSort flag in the More Preferences dialog, so Datebk4 will sort your databases after every hotsync (conduits will typically destroy this ordering). Can someone who is running the last release of Datebk4 confirm if this is accurate? Edit this paragraph as needed and then remove this comment.
